Pry The Lid Off
Summer Wheat’s exhibition at Oklahoma Contemporary is a homecoming. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, she returned this year to serve as an exhibiting artist and to create pieces that are site specific for our gallery.
On Saturday May 21, art lovers will enjoy brunch fare and a Bloody Mary bar in the exhibit, all while the artist shares the stories behind the artworks. Open seating. Space is limited. Attendees must be 21 to attend.

On Wednesday May 18, Oklahoma Contemporary will merge visual art, storytelling, dance and design to create an immersive performance experience inside Summer Wheat’s exhibition. Drawing on art history, mythology, Oklahoma history and Summer’s own biography, the performance explores our relationship to family, inheritance and the materials that fill our lives. A collaboration between multiple local artists, Robert Mills and the Oklahoma City Ballet and Oklahoma Contemporary, the event celebrates art, culture and Oklahoma.
