Angie Diaz serves as the learning and engagement coordinator where they provide crucial administrative support across the department. Previously, they worked with the Learning and Engagement Department as a gallery guide, studio assistant and summer camp youth program assistant.
Before joining Oklahoma Contemporary, Angie worked in the forced migration field where they often blended education, storytelling and research together. At the International Rescue Committee, they analyzed grants for education in crisis situations to understand donor trends and shifts in the humanitarian field. Their time at Al Otro Lado was focused on supporting legal staff to provide humanitarian services to asylum seekers and refugees. Angie’s experiences with diverse and underrepresented populations equips them with a unique perspective and skillset to enrich both the Oklahoma community and the experiences of Oklahoma Contemporary’s guests.
Passionate about making arts and education accessible to all, Angie believes that stories in art and history have the power to shape lives, foster empathy and cultivate understanding. They are dedicated to creating spaces that nurture intellectual and emotional growth. Angie seeks to empower learners to navigate the world with curiosity, empathy and creativity.
Angie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies from Vassar College, focusing on history and art history/film, with a particular interest in horror films and monsters. They also enjoy exploring children’s media.
Outside of work, Angie indulges in exploring fiber arts, watching television and movies, baking and browsing Jellycats.
