Kate Nickel supports the Studio School by organizing and maintaining the facility for adult art classes and workshops across all mediums. She assists in seeking out instructors and creating class and workshop ideas to fulfil the needs of the community.
Prior to this position, Kate spent many moons in the fine-dining service industry from California to Philadelphia until landing back in her home state of Oklahoma, where she discovered the world of organic farming. In 2017, she attended a six-month artist-in-residence program at Queen’s Collective in Marrakech, Morocco.
Kate received a Bachelor of Fine Art + Sculpture from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver in 2012 and continues her studio practice as a painter with a studio in the Paseo Arts District. She believes in the importance of artists having a community to connect and explore new ideas through contemporary art.
Kate loves riding her bicycle through the city as well as summertime in Oklahoma. Her favorite pastimes involve gardening, playing soccer and foosball and taking long walks.
