Meredith Downing

Capital Campaign Manager

Meredith Downing manages fundraising efforts for Oklahoma Contemporary’s $30 million capital campaign and offers support to the development team in mobilizing funds for exhibitions and public programs.

She draws from a decade of experience managing development activities at the Allied Arts Foundation, including the sustained growth of two of the region’s most successful annual fundraisers: the ARTini cocktail competition and art auction and the black-tie OPUS gala.

Meredith has also worked extensively with the City of Oklahoma City as an administrator of the Cultural Development Corporation of Central Oklahoma. These entities created and implemented the City’s “Strategies for Tomorrow” cultural plan (which yielded the creation of the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs), executed consulting studies on facilities and economic impact in the region and bolstered professional development opportunities for the cultural sector. In her work with the City, Meredith co-wrote a successful National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” grant to implement the city’s One Percent for Arts Ordinance by creating a Public Art Master Plan. Today the fruits of that labor are visible in the continued growth of murals, sculptures and art installations across Oklahoma City.

Meredith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Oklahoma State University. She currently volunteers with organizations including Allied Arts, the Plaza District Association and Arts Council Oklahoma City. Her creative practices include embroidery, illustration and graphic design. Meredith grew up in Guthrie and credits her parents for instilling in her an appreciation for art in all its forms.
