As a registrar, Oliver Ellington orchestrates the secure, ethical placement and care of objects during their life cycle on display at Oklahoma Contemporary. Oliver first came to know Oklahoma Contemporary when it was City Arts Center and has dreamed of working here ever since then, as it combines his two passions in arts and education. He considers himself a student of life and enriches his own understanding of the world through other’s perspectives, emotions and points of view, to which Oklahoma Contemporary is a source of inspiration. He is very excited to be part of the team at Oklahoma Contemporary and contribute to the appreciation and preservation of artistic heritage. He has the strong belief that art and history are intertwined; art is either affected by, or in response to, the cultural zeitgeist.
Previously, Oliver worked at the UCO Archives and Special Collections, managing collections and curating exhibits while completing a master’s in museum studies program online at OU. Prior to that, he studied global art and visual culture at UCO and had the fortunate opportunity to study in Lodz, Poland as the only American on a study tour. While in Poland, he worked at the Muzeum Sztuki MS1 in collaboration with the Google Arts and Culture Project. He is also a visual artist, drawing, painting and designing things with a sense of humor. He adopted his cat, Rumer, in 2021 and spends as much time as he can with him.
