Enjoy an afternoon of artmaking with us! During Second Saturdays, visitors can create a take-home art project inspired by our exhibitions, join a family-friendly tour of our gallery and explore an Art Pack full of engaging activities for all ages. Select Second Saturdays have gone XL! These family-friendly programs are inspired by exhibitions on view and will also showcase visual and performance artists. Second Saturday XLs are held across our campus, activating spaces indoors and out, and include multiple art-making opportunities and experiences. All Second Saturday and Second Saturday XL activities are free and open to the public.
Second Saturday XL: Summer Camp Sampler

Get ready for summer with a sample of the Camp Contemporary experience! May’s Second Saturday XL will showcase some of our most popular camp offerings including DJing, black-light art making and wearable art. Bring the family out for a FREE afternoon of art-making, yummy treats and summertime activities.
- TRY OUT the turn tables with guidance from our DJing camp teaching artist
- PLAY and create with light in the black-light art studio
- MAKE fun and funky wearable art
- RELAX in comfy Adirondack chairs or play outdoor games in our Sculpture Garden
- LITTLES can discover their love of art in our Early Childhood Studio
- COLOR with chalk to fill in the extra-large Camp Contemporary logo reimaged by our Teen Arts Council
- EXPRESS yourself by getting your face painted, for free!
- COOL off with a Kona Ice snow cone*
- EXPLORE contemporary artists by joining a family tour of Home1947: Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy exhibition
- ENJOY kid and grownup-friendly menu options from our Café Contemporary
*The first 75 kids (ages 12 and under) will receive a free ticket for a snow cone from Kona Ice.
