Four-Week Class | Make Your Own Watercolors!

Prerequisites: Beginners welcome! No experience necessary.

Use wildflowers and plants harvested from Oklahoma Contemporary’s Art Garden to create an entire palette of watercolors. In this garden-to-easel experience, you produce watercolors from flowers and vegetables that you probably have in your own kitchen! This class is great for painters or anyone interested in connecting to nature’s power and potential. Course content includes the art of basic chemistry (don’t let that scare you, if you can boil water you can extract natural dye), how to mix color, prepare ingredients and incorporate texture. You will finish class with a one-of-a-kind palette of watercolors and a new appreciation for the pigments hidden in your kitchens and gardens. No chemistry experience necessary. Open Studio* time is included with registration.

*Open Studio allows currently enrolled students to work on their projects in Oklahoma Contemporary’s studios outside of class meetings. Times vary weekly and may be booked two weeks in advance. See Open Studio Times here.
