3-D Media

Courses in jewelry making, sculpture and fabrication are taught in both Oklahoma Contemporary’s main building and in The Studios. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment are available in the digital media lab, woodshop, metal shop, ceramic studios and flex spaces. Courses take place online via Zoom or at Studio School with masks required and social distancing procedures enforced.

Metal cuff bracelets and metal tools

Discover the art of metalsmithing as you create your own custom cuff bracelets. In this afternoon workshop, you'll learn how to add decoration by stamping and hammering texture to design your own unique metal piece. You’ll leave the workshop with two complete pieces — one cuff made in copper and one in sterling silver. All skill levels are welcome, no experience is necessary and all materials are included. Just bring your creativity! The alternate date for this workshop in case of weather, instructor illness or other issues that arise is May 2 from 10-1 p.m. Registration closes Sunday, April 11 at 11:59 p.m.

Create your own pewter form using this simple casting method with tufa stone. Some previous metalsmithing experience is helpful, but not required. This course will take place in a well-ventilated studio with masks required and social distancing enforced. The alternate date in case of weather, instructor illness or other issues that may arise is Saturday, May 16. Registration closes Sunday, May 2 at 11:59 p.m.

10-Week Class | Intro to Jewelry Making

Learn basic metalsmithing techniques to create your own unique jewelry objects. The course will include the demonstration of foundational techniques such as texturing metals, sawing, finishing work, ring sizing and stone setting. Students will learn skills in design, technique and craftsmanship with the completion of several one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. Tuition includes metals for class projects -- students will learn in class how to select and where to purchase their own stones. This course will take place in person in a well-ventilated studio with enforced social distancing and masks required at all times. Registration closes Sunday, April 4 at 11:59 p.m.
