Four-Week Class | Make Your Own Books!

Prerequisites: Beginners welcome! No experience necessary.

Learn to build and bind your own blank sketchbooks, journals and artist books. Bookmaking is a great way to relieve stress and create unique and functional books to use or give as gifts. This class is perfect for illustrators, scrapbookers, journalers, writers, sculptors or anyone who wants to make and use fantastic blank books. You’ll be introduced to the methods, tools and terminology of bookmaking and learn multiple bookbinding techniques, such as saddle stich, Coptic binding, Japanese stab binding and case binding. Experiment with found and recycled materials and learn about the fascinating world of books made by artists.

You will finish the class with several one-of-a-kind blank books! Open Studio* time is included with registration.

*Open Studio allows currently enrolled students to work on their projects in Oklahoma Contemporary’s studios outside of class meetings. Times vary weekly and may be booked two weeks in advance. See Open Studio Times here.
