Class

Eight-Week Class | Intermediate Hand Building

Based around utilitarian vessels and the intimate moments that surround them, Intermediate Hand Building is designed for those comfortable with ceramic basics and hand building techniques. Students will be asked to consider new approaches to texture, building and decoration, such as using clothing and other found objects to create texture slabs when creating various forms. Students will also explore surface decoration — through underglaze, transfers and decals — to add a sense of depth to their work. Expect a playful environment with opportunities for investigation and discovery at all stages of the making process and encouragement of creative inquiry, exploration and risk taking. Students will have the opportunity to work on assigned projects independently in the studio between class meetings. Registration closes on Sunday, June 27 at 11:59 p.m.
