Jezy Gray

Jezy J. Gray is a nonfiction writer and editor living in Oklahoma City. His byline appears in PopMatters, This Land, Curbside Chronicle, D Magazine, Dallas Observer, Oklahoma Gazette, NonDoc, Territory, Bloom Magazine, Root Tulsa, TulsaPeople, Oklahoma Today and elsewhere. His essays “Wild Life” and “In My Tribe” are collected in the anthologies A Voice Was Sounding: Vol. 5 (2015) and Race Reader (2017). He also served as the final editor- in-chief of the alternative bi-weekly Tulsa Voice, where his team of freelance journalists won first-place honors in feature writing, arts reporting, food writing, sports writing, diversity reporting and more at the 2019 Great Plains Journalism Awards and Society of Professional Journalists – Oklahoma Awards. In addition to his freelance work, Jezy is the director of communications for the Oklahoma Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain, operating a multidisciplinary summer arts academy for gifted teenagers, along with fall workshops for adult artists and educators.
