Workshop | Exploring Indigo and Shibori

Students will learn the basics of dyeing with a natural indigo vat and discover several approaches to shibori dyeing. The instructor will address Itajime (shape resist), Kumo (tied resist) and Kanoko (twist resist), Arashi (pole wrapping) and Nui (stitch resist) techniques. Materials will be provided and participants are highly encouraged to bring their own small, natural fiber items to dye. Students will leave with dyed cotton fabric and dyed goods from home.
