Students are highly encouraged, but not required, to take Sewing Fundamentals prior to this course. In this relaxed approach to quilting techniques, you’ll learn a simple quilt block pattern and the basics of machine quilt construction, from start to finish.
You must be familiar with your sewing machine and the basics of sewing prior to enrolling in this class. Required supplies: a notebook and pen for notes, a serviced sewing machine, electric cord, foot pedal, machine manual, all tools, feet and accessories that came with your machine, and a ¼” quilting/piecing foot. You will also need additional fabric and notions. All supplies will be thoroughly discussed in the first class.
If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can rent one through Studio School. Daily rentals are $12. Four-week rentals are $40, and eight-week rentals are $80.
Course syllabus and supply list available Feb. 24.
Open Studio time is included with registration. Open Studio allows currently enrolled students to work on their projects in Oklahoma Contemporary’s studios outside of class meetings. Availability varies weekly, and times are posted outside each studio.
