Learn the fundamentals of weaving on a four-shaft loom, focusing on loom setup, understanding basic weave patterns (plain weave and twill variations) and weaving terminology. Creating sound structure and developing good weaving habits will be emphasized. Reading drafts will also be covered. Each student will have the exclusive use of a loom for the duration of class (including scheduled Open Studio sessions outside of class) and will produce a cotton sampler. Beginning students will need to pay a materials fee ($27 plus tax, credit card only) for their first project on the first day of class. Intermediate weavers are also welcome to join this small class and work on separate projects. Intermediate students will need to pay a loom maintenance fee ($7, credit card only) on the first day of class. Students will have the opportunity to work on assigned projects independently in the studio between class meetings. Registration closes Sunday, Sept. 19 at 11:59 p.m.
