Online Four-Week Class | Crafting the Personal Essay

Explore the craft of writing and publishing personal narrative essays. Part book club and part workshop, this course includes regular readings based on a different theme each week. Students will discuss classic works by masters like James Baldwin and Joan Didion, along with essays by writers publishing in print and online today. In addition to participating in critical conversations about the building blocks of strong narrative writing, students will workshop their own essays together throughout the course and leave with a final draft of a creative nonfiction piece drawn from their own personal experience. All reading materials will be made available online. Registration closes on Sunday, July 25 at 11:59 p.m.
