In this class, you'll explore the basics of writing personal narrative essays. Focusing on post-war and contemporary nonfiction writing, the course includes regular readings from masters like James Baldwin and Joan Didion, along with contemporary selections from Zadie Smith, Maggie Nelson, Eula Biss, and more. Students will workshop their own essays together throughout the course and leave with a final draft of a creative nonfiction piece drawn from their own personal experience.
