In light of the COVID-19 public health crisis, Oklahoma Contemporary has temporarily postponed the opening of our new home, including spring Studio School classes and workshops. Read more about the planned launch of Studio School, now scheduled for summer, here.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this ongoing situation, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Oklahoma Contemporary presents a varied schedule of performance classes, workshops, readings, lectures and master classes in the Te Ata Theater, a flexible and dynamic performance space with variable seating configurations for up to 225 people. The technical capabilities of the space, including an upright piano, an advanced theatrical lighting and sound package and a digital 4K resolution HD laser projector, can be used to support presentations and in-class performance explorations.

Early registration: Members at all levels receive early access to registration.

Discounts: Members at all levels will receive a 10 percent discount on Studio School classes and workshops for the named cardholder and teens in their household. If you are not a current member, join today.

Supplies: Oklahoma Contemporary provides durable artist equipment for student use during each session. Students are responsible for purchasing their own supplies for courses—a syllabus and material list is emailed upon registration. Some items, including clay and ceramic tools, are available for purchase on the first day of class.

Teen registration in adult courses: In addition to offering classes and workshops for teens, Studio School invites high school juniors and seniors to register for select adult courses. If you wish to register your teen in an adult class or workshop, please submit an application here.

Soundpainting is the multidisciplinary sign language for live composition. This technique includes more than 1,500 gestures that allow for the creation and sculpting of performance in real time. The fundamental philosophy of Soundpainting is that everyone is equal and there are no mistakes. Students will become Soundpainting performers, learning to respond across artistic disciplines to the basic 44 gestures, moving into 75 gestures of Level II. Students will also learn the basics of becoming Soundpainters themselves, culminating in the development and performance of their own compositions.
