Explore Oklahoma Contemporary's archive of video interviews with Bright Golden Haze artists

This week brought exciting news: Interior Design magazine named Oklahoma Contemporary's inaugural Bright Golden Haze a Best of the Year finalist in Exhibition/Installation. The illuminating group show exploring light and place joins world-class attractions like Dragon Mountain Landmark Pavilion in China and Journey to Edge in New York City, furthering the arts center's goal to put Oklahoma City on the map as an international arts and culture destination.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Oklahoma, just days before our scheduled grand opening, Oklahoma Contemporary shut its doors in the name of public health. Unable to connect the community with our inaugural exhibition in person, New Light premiered its Illuminations video series to introduce the artists behind Bright Golden Haze. From the mythic explorations of Doty Glasco to Leo Villareal's immersive Star Ceiling 2, these interviews offer artistic perspectives on the light coursing throughout our opening group show.
After months of limited access timed ticketing, we have momentarily closed our doors once again to help protect the health of our community. With many others quarantining at the recommendation of Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, we thought it would be a good time to round up all six installments of our Illuminations series for a deep dive into the artists who make our inaugural exhibition a true showstopper. Whether you watch it all in one mega-binge or parcel it throughout the holiday break, these videos will help you stay connected with contemporary art until it's time to safely welcome you back.
