Cure-8
Presented in partnership with RACE Dance Collective
Oct. 3-5, 2024
The Cure-8 performances were the culmination of an eight-week experience that paired local dance makers with leading industry experts to produce new original works that premiered at Oklahoma Contemporary. Through these mentorships, artists wove community engagement and advocacy for pressing social issues into their creative process. Choreographers collaborated with local social service organizations, crafting works informed by topics paramount to the community. By presenting works that called attention to specific social issues, the audience’s experience was more than passive observation; it catalyzed active engagement and dialogue for social change.
Cure-8 was made possible through grant funding from OK Let’s Dance, an initiative of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund.
