Clay and Tool Kits can be purchased at the front desk. Students may only attend the class they are enrolled in.


Open Studio Saturday and Sunday
Students enrolled in an eight-week ceramics class at Oklahoma Contemporary may use the designated studio during Open Studio Saturday and Sunday.

Friday Night Clay

A lively two-hour workshop in the Ceramics Studio. Each participant will make a mug which will be fired and ready for pickup two weeks after class. Open to all levels, and perfect for beginners. All materials, glazing, and firing are included.

Beginning Ceramics - Thursday Evenings

This class provides students with foundational skills in hand-building, wheel-throwing, basic surface decoration and glazing techniques.

Intermediate Ceramics - Monday Evenings

This class is designed to help students with a basic foundation advance to the next level. Students will further explore hand-building and wheel-throwing methods, using basic cylinder, bowl and plate forms to create more complex pieces. Advanced surface design, glazing and firing methods are introduced.

Intermediate Ceramics - Wednesday Afternoons

This class is designed to help students with a basic foundation advance to the next level. Ceramics Studio Pass is available for students who are currently enrolled in a class and interested in additional studio time to work on projects and improve skills/techniques. Registration provides access to main ceramics and auxiliary studios when classes are not in session, as well as Open Studio Saturday and Sunday.

  • Ceramics Studio hours apply (students are responsible for checking availability).
  • Participants may only use clay purchased at Oklahoma Contemporary.
  • Clean-up must begin 30 minutes before end of studio time.
  • Firings will follow regular schedule as set by the Studio Manager.
  • No retail or production work allowed.

*All Ceramics classes include access to Open Studio Saturday and Sunday

Independent Studio

  • Date Eight-Week Pass
  • Cost $150 (supplied and clay not included)

Independent Studio is a program for intermediate and advanced potters/ceramics artists to access our studios, explore new ideas or build upon skills learned through classes. This program does not provide a curriculum or instructor. Artists interested in Independent Studio do not need to be enrolled in another ceramics class. Registration provides access to main ceramics and auxiliary studios when classes are not in session, as well as Open Studio Saturday and Sunday.

Artists looking to enroll must have completed Ceramics for Intermediates or receive permission from the Studio Manager.
