Chad Mount Brings a Shift in Perspective

For Immediate Release

Chad Mount: Frequency and Perspective Opens at Oklahoma Contemporary June 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 26, 2026) —
Coming to Oklahoma Contemporary’s Mary LeFlore Clements Oklahoma Gallery on June 25, 2026, Chad Mount: Frequency and Perspective, an immersive installation that invites viewers into a space shaped by geometry, light and movement. Mount's innovative work employs projection mapping, laser light, generative visuals and sound to create dynamic environments that respond to visitors' presence and perception. Rooted in his fascination with natural patterns and symbolic geometries, such as fractals and spirals, Mount's work is fueled by "micro-awe" — fleeting yet profound moments of inspiration.

Frequency and Perspective expands Oklahoma Contemporary’s commitment to presenting artists who blur the boundaries between art, technology and environment. Chad Mount’s immersive installation transforms digital light and sound into a living field of color and motion, inviting visitors to consider how perception and energy intertwine. This exhibition reflects our ongoing effort to connect contemporary art to the sensory and spatial experiences that define life in Oklahoma today,” said Oklahoma Contemporary Executive Director Trent Riley.

Oklahoma Contemporary invites visitors to experience this unique fusion of art and technology, which challenges traditional boundaries and offers a fresh perspective on the interplay between digital media and natural phenomena. The exhibition continues a trend of boundary-pushing works at Oklahoma Contemporary, overlapping with the experimental light sculpture work of Anthony McCall: Solid Light, hosted in the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Main Gallery.

Chad Mount: Frequency and Perspective will be on view June 25 through Nov. 2, 2026. Admission is always free, and tickets are not required.

About the Artist

Chad Mount is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice spans light-based installations and experimental media, often using projection mapping and time-based technologies to sculpt space and perception. For more than a decade, light has been his primary material, a focus that has profoundly shaped how he experiences spatial relationships and the transformative effects of illumination on form, color and atmosphere.

Drawing from natural systems, symbolic languages, meditation and emerging technologies, Mount creates works that invite curiosity, joy and moments of perceptual shift. His exploration of the living world has led to experiments with biological systems, such as bioluminescent algae and genetically engineered fragrant moss, which he has incorporated alongside more traditional analog and digital art forms.

Mount approaches each project as a process of discovery, allowing materials, concepts and experiments to guide him until the work reveals itself. His art has been exhibited in galleries, public spaces and collaborative projects across the United States and internationally, engaging audiences through immersive, sensory-rich environments that challenge and expand the boundaries of perception.
