On Jan. 28, Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center announced that Jeremiah Matthew Davis has been named to the nonprofit organization's newly created director's position.
Oklahoma Contemporary Executive Director Eddie Walker, who was previously the longtime executive director of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, earlier this month announced that he is retiring in spring.
"As artistic director over the past six years, Jeremiah has grown in his role just as Oklahoma Contemporary has grown," said Robert Clements, board of trustees president, in a statement.
“As Eddie departs, Jeremiah is the ideal person to assume the new director role. We are also creating the new position of deputy director. That hire will have responsibility for administrative functions and support Jeremiah as he focuses on strategic and big-picture areas for Oklahoma Contemporary.”
Davis will oversee all departments when he assumes the director's mantle March 1 in an organizational restructuring for the arts center.
“In this expanded role, I will double down on our mission to encourage artistic expression in all its forms," he said in a statement.
