Steven Columbus joined Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center as a Tour Guide and Visitor Experience associate in 2022. Steven found his calling as the Facilities Manager at the arts center in the summer of 2023, where he oversees the general maintenance of the 55,000 square foot facility and grounds.
Originally from Bethel Acres, Oklahoma where he attended high school, Steven attended Oklahoma Baptist University on an art scholarship where he displayed his passion for the arts. Steven remained active in the art scene over the past 20 years by contributing his talents through assisting local communities with murals and commissioned portraits. His background in auto body led quite easily into custom hand-painted signage for local Oklahoma businesses and airbrushing fishing that are purchased and shipped all over the country. His passion for art stems from his fathers’ path in the culinary arts as a chef. His father blessed him with the mindset to pursue his dreams, which has led him to Oklahoma Contemporary.
Over the last 20 years Steven has worked as a demolition supervisor, surveillance supervisor, maintenance technician, and in the oil field as a laborer, as well as a painter, supervisor and yard coordinator. In his spare time, you can find Steven with his son and fiancé, in his kayak fishing or in his home studio creating.
