We are excited to offer a new program this summer! Sponsored by the Kirkpatrick Foundation, this free application-based academic and outdoor-focused camp serves 12 students in a small-group setting designed to inspire confidence, curiosity, and motivation for the upcoming school year.
The camp’s home base is Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center, with activities held throughout the metro area, including Mollie Spencer Farm (Yukon), Red Ridge Nature Preserve, and the Park House in Nichols Hills. Students may also visit community destinations such as the Metropolitan Library System, Science Museum of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Zoo, and Oklahoma City Ballet.
Hands-on activities may include art, nature studies, hiking, farm experiences, beekeeping, cooking, biology, earth science, math, reading, sewing, badminton, croquet, yoga, and more.
Lunch, snacks, and supplies are provided. Students should dress for outdoor activities. Daily drop-off and pick-up at Oklahoma Contemporary is required (transportation is not provided). Attendance is expected each day. Free before- and after-care is available if needed.
Students who enjoy the program are encouraged to return for seventh and eighth grade, as Kirkpatrick Explorers is designed as a three-year opportunity. Participants may also be invited to occasional events during the school year.
