Green Light!
The new Arboretum Collaborative champions trees! We promote nature conservation and advocate for tree planting and habitat preservation in central Oklahoma. A healthy planet depends on our collective efforts to protect native forests. Trees provide thermal refuge in a world filled with glass and stone. Whether large or small, trees help keep our cities cool and offer food and shelter for wildlife. The Arboretum Collaborative brings together member organizations to advance, conserve, and protect nature and biodiversity. The collaborative also:
- Encourages the use of native plants that are well-suited to thrive in their natural habitat
- Promotes planting trees that support wildlife by providing food and shelter
- Supports events focused on tree planting, conservation, and habitat restoration
Healing Through Nature: The Eleanor B. Kirkpatrick Garden and Great Lawn, opening in 2027 at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital’s new west entrance, will create a healing green space that honors the longstanding affiliation of the Kirkpatrick family and St. Anthony. Designed as a peaceful sanctuary, the area will feature shaded seating, walking paths, and calming landscaping to support whole-person care. St. Anthony also plans to use the Garden and Great Lawn as a small arboretum, offering a vegetation map for self-guided walks and occasional expert-led tours. These activities will encourage outdoor wellness and help patients, families, staff, and community members learn about campus plant life. Additional educational outreach, including school tours and new partnerships, will further extend the Garden and Great Lawn’s impact beyond the hospital campus.
