Celebrate 100 years of Route 66 with brand new music by Tactus Music Director Warren Puffer Jones. Focusing on the lives of various people throughout the history and geography of Route 66, the piece highlights how the story of the road represents the diversity and vibrancy of American life. The hour-long work is scored for five voices and fifteen instruments. 

About the Creator 

Conductor and composer Warren Puffer Jones is the Music Director of Tactus. A native of Oklahoma City, he studied music composition at Yale University, choral conducting at Indiana University, instrumental conducting at Bard College, and received the doctoral degree in orchestral conducting from the University of Michigan. In 2025 Tactus gave the world premiere of his “Songs of the Prairie,” music inspired by the ecosystem of the Great Plains. He is also the Director of the Kemp Concert Series and the Music Director at the First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, where he leads the Kemp Concert Choir in performances of major works from the choral-orchestral repertoire. He served for ten years as Music Director of Arbor Opera Theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and for seven years as Music Director of the Ann Arbor Cantata Singers.   

Tactus Chamber Orchestra & Vocal Ensemble presents high-quality performances of vocal and instrumental music in engaging concert experiences. Rooted in the classical tradition, Tactus performs great music on innovative concert programs. Our repertoire includes music that is more than a thousand years old as well as music that is brand new. The ensemble has a flexible roster of professional singers and instrumentalists with active careers as performers and teachers. Our members are talented musicians who have performed nationally and internationally and who share a love of excellent music-making.
