Joe Cox

Joe Cox received his bachelor's degree in art with an emphasis in ceramic from Oklahoma Baptist University. He also holds a Master of Education in Adult Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. For the past 20 years Joe has taught ceramic to his students at Southeast High School in Oklahoma City. Joe has taught adult ceramic with an emphasis in throwing at the Firehouse Art Center in Norman. As a potter and artist Joe’s emphasis has been throwing functional ware. “I love to create items that can be used every day. The relationship that develops between a person and an object like a favorite mug or bowl has always intrigued me.” Joe’s teaching philosophy is that everyone should know the joy of creating. Working with clay facilitates this, and it is a joy of mine to share that with those wishing to learn it.

Take Beginning Wheel Throwing with Joe Cox this fall.
