Skulls, Skies, and Sublime Threads: The Studio School Instructor Exhibition
March 21 - May 5, 2022
Education Wing

Oklahoma Contemporary’s Studio School encourages artistic expression in all forms. From painting, drawing and fiber arts to ceramics, music and writing, we offer adults and teens the thrill of making things by hand.
This exhibition showcased the talent and diverse practices of Studio School’s instructors. Fiber artist Darci Lenker elicited maximum wonder through miniscule thread painting, and composer Jacob Frost transformed ignored sounds like air conditioners or keyboard typing into musical compositions. Amy Young combined traditional weaving with unexpected materials to explore queer adolescent development, and ceramicist Chrystal O’Boyle used ceramic glaze as a metaphor for exploring vulnerability.
The artists’ interests and materials varied, but their artwork was a collective endorsement for the power of prioritizing creativity in our community.
