Short Workshops

Studio School offers one- or multi-session workshops throughout the year on a variety of topics ranging from ceramics, fiber arts, and digital media.

Online courses: Due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, many workshops are taught in real-time over Zoom. Students are responsible for having a reliable Internet connection and a Zoom-compatible device with microphone, speakers and camera.

Outdoor courses: Some workshops are held outside in the Studio Building's Leigh Ann and Paul Albers Outdoor Studio. Masks are required and social distancing practices will be enforced. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed or cancelled and all registrants will be notified via email.

Registration: Workshops are announced on a rolling basis throughout the year, so sign up for our mailing list to receive occasional updates on new courses. Deadlines for workshop registration vary and are noted on each course listing.

Join us for a two-day, hands-on workshop as we dive into the topic of Raku ceramics. Together, we'll explore traditional Japanese Raku as it relates to religious and cultural practices and its later expression among American ceramicists in the mid-1900s. During the first workshop session, you'll use hand building techniques to create tea bowls. We'll meet the following weekend to glaze and fire your works using the Raku process. This in-person workshop will take place outside. Masks are required and social distancing will be enforced. All materials and tools are included in the cost of tuition and this course is open to students of all levels. Registration closes Sunday, Feb. 28 at 11:59 p.m.
