As a member of Oklahoma Contemporary’s Visitor Experience team since 2021, Ellisa is dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming space for every guest who enters the building. Most days, you can catch her greeting and engaging with guests in the galleries, at the front desk or in the retail shop. With a background of several years in the customer service industry and as an artist herself, Ellisa found a calling in fostering meaningful and memorable experiences and relationships with people in creative spaces of the art world. Connecting with others through thought-provoking, creative conversations is something she looks forward to every day.
Upon receiving her Associate of Arts degree from Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas, Ellisa relocated back to her home state where she is further nurturing her passions through pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art at the University of Central Oklahoma. Her artistic practice spans various mediums, as she is constantly pushing the boundaries of expression through painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and poetry. Previously, she exhibited work, Outflow, in Oklahoma Contemporary’s staff showcase art_work_2022, alongside poetry that shared insight into her creative processes and discovery of self.
When she is not working, Ellisa likes to spend her time creating, reading and immersing herself in nature. You just might catch her sharing original poetry at open mic nights around the city. She also enjoys stargazing, learning about the universe around her and birdwatching with her children (cats), Castor and Noba.
