Students explored the basics of costume design, including color families, period fashion and texture. Campers learned sewing skillsets, like threading, running a sewing machine, building patterns and choosing fabrics. Young fashion artists created a basic costume to model for family and friends at Friday’s Camp Contemporary Showcase.

Grades 5-6 | Skyscraper Challenge | Jennifer Elton

In this STEAM-based camp, students participated in exploratory activities in which they designed, built and tested their structures using everyday objects. Finding inspiration in contemporary architects like Daniel Libeskind and Renzo Piano, campers learned the basics of architecture as well as developed design skills. At the end of the week, students used what they have learned to build their own 3-D skyscrapers. The sky’s the limit!
